Back in the 1980s, it seemed like everyone was into silk painting. So much so that it inspired Michael Katz to start manufacturing his own art supplies under the brand name “Jacquard Products” with special emphasis on liquid dyes and textile art.
Those products are still available today, and we’re proud to sell them. For example, Jacquard’s silk colours are liquid dyes primarily used for direct application silk painting. This range consists of 20 mixable colours and unlike European silk colours, which are often liquid acid dyes, Jacquard’s silk colours are modified fibre-reactive dyes. What does that mean, and what is the benefit to you? It’s simple. Fibre-reactive dyes allow for easier setting, better lightfastness and maximum wash fastness. The Jacquard green label dyes we sell are specially formulated to be used directly out of the bottle, which is something appreciated by beginners and professionals alike.
That, in a nutshell, is the joy of Jacquard. Easy to use but with high-quality results in bold and vivid colours.
Over the years, Jacquard has widened its product range and given the quality of their silk colours, it’s no surprise we sell a lot of these items too. The range includes easy-to-use art kits, always popular tie-dyes, fabric paints, inks, and waxes. Some of the more popular products within our Jacquard range includes:
- Jacquard Piñata Alcohol Inks - these incredibly versatile, transparent, and alcohol-based Pinata Inks are perfect for glass, leather, wood, paper, plastic, metal, metal foil, resin, wax and vinyl.
- Jacquard Procion MX Dye - these “cold water dyes” are fixed chemically instead of with heat which makes them different to all other dyes and the perfect choice if you’re into backyard dyeing, batik and tie-dye
- Jacquard Pearl ex Varnish - use this as a medium or top coat with pearl ex powdered pigments on clay, metal, wood or plastic.
- Jacquard Carrageenan - a natural seaweed gelling agent providing an excellent viscous surface for fabric and paper marbling.
- Jacquard Solarfast Class Packs - lets you create magical photographic art prints and one-off t-shirts by harnessing the power of the sun.
- Jacquard Mehndi Henna Kits - while traditional Mehndi is drawn on the hands and feet, this safe product can be applied anywhere.
- Jacquard Marbling Paints - continues the ancient art of floating paint on the surface of thickened water and then transferring the design onto paper or fabric.
- Jacquard Airbrush Colour - originally formulated for textiles, with exceptional durability, unsurpassed coverage and superb flexibility, Jacquard Airbrush Colour is also the go-to paint for custom shoe and sneaker painting.
That’s just a snapshot of the Jacquard story and its product range. If you’re into any art and craft at all, and not just those involving textiles, we suggest you contact us and ask if there’s a Jacquard product that could bring out the best in your work. Why do we recommend them to you? Like everything we sell, Jacquard products are the perfect blend of quality and affordability. And, the results are spectacular - at the end of the day, it’s how things look and not how much things cost that really counts, right?
